North Korea has warned that it will destroy giant balloons and drones carrying anti-North Korea leaflets that fly over the inter-Korean border toward the North.
The North’s propaganda Web site “Uriminjok-kkiri” said that North Korea would not just sit back and watch leaflets insulting its supreme dignity and regime fly in.
It added that Pyongyang could launch cannons or missiles to destroy the leaflet-carrying balloons and drones, going beyond the use of guns. The North fired anti-aircraft machine guns last October to shoot down balloons carrying the leaflets, which were sent by South Korean civic groups.
The North Korean Web site criticized South Korean civic groups for attempting to ignite a war by pushing ahead with the distribution of anti-Pyongyang leaflets when South Korea-U.S. joint military exercises are underway.
It insisted that using drones for the distribution of anti-Pyongyang leaflets violates South Korea’s aviation law and is defined as an act of war under international law so the South Korean government will have to take responsibility for any consequences.
