South and North Korean and overseas committees for implementing the inter-Korean June 15 declaration will hold a reunification festival this year.

The groups announced the plan on Wednesday in a joint statement, saying that they should make 2015 a historic year that opens the grand path for reunification of the two Koreas.

Noting that this year marks the tenth anniversary of the foundation of a joint committee of the three groups, they also urged the two Koreas to faithfully implement the landmark inter-Korean declaration. 

The three sides said that concerns are growing over the potential outbreak of war on the Korean Peninsula amid escalating tensions in the region with all paths linking the two Koreas on land, sea and air blocked.
