KBS honored five distinguished overseas Koreans during the 18th KBS Overseas Compatriots Award ceremony held on Thursday.

The five figures are Professor German Kim of the Al-Farabi University in Kazakhstan, Professor Shin Dong-moon of Emory University School of Medicine, former professor of the University of Formative Art in Hamburg Roh Eun-nim, head of real estate and property management company Mitsukoshi Land Owang Cheong-il, and former head of the First People’s Hospital of Chongqing Lee So-shim.

KBS said it included German Kim among the award recipients to recognize his significant contribution to promoting Korean studies in Kazakhstan and carrying out research on the history of emigration of ethnic Koreans to Kazakhstan.
