The Korean Red Cross announced Thursday that it will spend one-point-two billion won over two years to build water supply and drainage systems in the Indonesian provinces of East Java and East Kalimantan as well as in dry regions of Myanmar.
The organization will also improve sanitation infrastructure by building restrooms in homes and schools as well as waste disposal facilities.
The Korean Red Cross also plans to carry out education programs and campaigns on sanitation for residents of the regions.
The project is a Community Chest of Korea aid program and launched with the help of Samsung Group who provided the funds. The Korean Red Cross plans to cooperate with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and its counterparts in Indonesia and Myanmar.
