Seoul to Open Experimental Curriculum for High School Students

The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education plans to offer a one-year program that provides career experience and experimental activities to volunteering first-year high school students.

In a news briefing Monday, Seoul's education chief said an alternative education program, dubbed the "Odyssey School," will open in May.

Superintendent Cho Hee-yeon of the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education said the office plans to introduce the program to provide an intensive self-study course for students going from middle school to high school.
The course will be composed of experimental activities and a core curriculum to allow students to achieve the core standard.

The Odyssey School will be accredited and students who participate during their first year of high school will return to their schools in their second year.
