Sports Officials Heading to Switzerland for Park's Doping Hearing

The team preparing for swimmer Park Tae-hwan's hearing on doping charges will begin leaving for Lausanne, Switzerland on Thursday.

The Korean Olympic Committee said Tuesday that the team of officials from the committee and the Korea Swimming Federation will leave on Thursday and Saturday for Lausanne where the secretariat of the international swimming federation FINA is located.

The hearing, which will decide whether to seek disciplinary action against Park and what penalties could be applied, will open next Monday.

Park was summoned to appear for the hearing after testing positive for the banned substance testosterone last September just before the Incheon Asian Games. He is said to be making a decision on his departure date independently.

The hearing was initially set to open on February 27 but was delayed after Park requested more time for preparation.
