S. Korea Loses Out to France on 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup

South Korea has lost out for the right to host the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

At FIFA's Executive Board meeting in Zurich on Thursday, France was selected over South Korea to host the 2019 Women’s World Cup and the 2018 U-20 Women’s World Cup.

Initially, five countries were interested in hosting the games, but the field was narrowed down in October 2014 to South Korea and France, who submitted official bids.

South Korea, which will host the 2017 U-20 World Cup, was seeking to host FIFA-sanctioned events three years in a row.
