KBS1, KBS2 Rank First and Second in TV Ratings

The two Korean Broadcasting System television channels have ranked first and second in TV ratings, marking four straight years including last year.

According to the Korea Communications Commission's survey on TV channel ratings for 2014, KBS1 has ranked at the top with 14-point-nine percent, followed by KBS2 with 13-point-four percent.

In third was MBC with 11-point-nine percent and SBS came in fourth with five-point-nine percent.

The combined rating of SBS and local commercial broadcasting stations was 11-point-two percent.

In the total TV programming channel sector, MBN's rating was three-point-five percent, while that of TV Chosun and JTBC were three percent and two-point-six percent, respectively.

Among news channels, YTN's rating was one-point-five percent, while Yonhap News TV's rating was one-point-one percent.

Last year, the average daily TV viewing time per person stood at three hours and 18 minutes, seven minutes more than the previous year.

A TV rating refers to a viewer's viewing time of a certain TV channel out of the person's entire TV viewing time. 

The latest survey was conducted for 521 TV channels broadcast to four-thousand households nationwide from January to December in 2014.
