KOICA Opens Office in Kyrgyzstan

The South Korean state overseas development aid agency has opened an office in Kyrgyzstan.

The opening brought the number of overseas branches and offices of the Korea International Corporation Agency (KOICA) to 49 in 46 countries around the world.

A KOICA official said Tuesday that as the agency launched a five million dollar project aimed at advancing Kyrgyzstan’s election system, it has decided to open an office in the country in order to maintain consultation with the Kyrgyzstan government and secure cooperation from other aid groups.

KOICA’s five aid projects in the Central Asian nation, including those aimed at establishing a land information system and enhancing forest preservation, will begin this year.
