Bae Doona Wins AFA Best Actress Award

South Korean actress Bae Doona has won the best actress prize at the ninth annual Asian Film Awards.

Bae's agency Saetbyul-dang Entertainment said on Friday that the actress won the award for her performance in the film "A Girl at My Door."

At the awards ceremony in Macau on Wednesday, Bae beat out contenders such as Gong Li in "Coming Home" and Tang Wei in "The Golden Era" for the coveted prize.

In her acceptance speech, Bae Doona said just getting nominated was an honor and that she would strive to be a hard-working actress.

The film "A Girl at My Door" tells the tale of a police substation chief played by Bae who helps a young girl, abused and maltreated by her father and grandmother, only to get embroiled in an unexpected incident.
