S. Korea's Curling Teams Win 1st Round Games in Deaflympics

South Korea's men curlers beat Hungary 9-8 in the first-round of the 18th Winter Deaflympics underway in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia, on Monday.
 
In the second-round games that followed, however, the South Korean team lost 1-6 to Japan.
 
The South Korean women’s curling team also won the first-round game by defeating Ukraine’s team 14-6.
 
Men and women’s curling teams from nine countries each are taking part in the Deaflympics. The event is being held in such a way that the four top countries will engage in single-round tournaments.
 
Meanwhile, South Korea’s Kim Kwan ranked tenth in the women’s cross-country skiing, skiathlon five-plus-five kilometer event with a score of 42 minutes and 41-point-nine seconds.
