N. Korea Vows to Seek Both Nuke, Economic Development

North Korea remains determined to simultaneously develop nuclear weapons and achieve economic development as a way to ensure peace and prosperity.

The Rodong Sinmun, the newspaper of the North's ruling Workers' Party, said that North Korea will stick to its policy of pursuing both nuclear and economic development and will continue its struggle to become a powerful country.

Citing the adoption of the policy as a historical event, the newspaper stressed that its justification and effectiveness have been proven over the past two years and that numerous landmark buildings, science technologies and economic achievements have been the result.

North Korea adopted the dual-line policy as a new strategy at a general meeting of the Workers’ Party’s Central Committee in March 2013.
