This year's cherry blossom festival will open on Wednesday for a ten-day run in Jinhae, South Gyeongsang Province.
 
An event will be held on Tuesday evening celebrating the eve of the 53rd annual Jinhae Cherry Blossom Festival.
 
The city of Changwon said 60 to 80 percent of the cherry blossoms in the region had bloomed as of Tuesday and the spring flower will be at its peak around Sunday.
 
During the festival, the Naval Academy grounds and the Naval Base Command will be open to the public, while convenience facilities will be set up for visitors at major locations in the city.
 
A military band and honor guard festival will also be held as part of the festival from Friday to Sunday.
