The International Telecommunication Union has selected the port city of Busan as the host of its combined information and telecommunication exhibition next year. ITU said it had selected Busan as the venue for its experience in successfully hosting world events, including the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup Games and the Busan Asian Games. The Geneva-based organization also pointed out that the fact that Busan is emerging as an IT hub in the region contributed to its final selection. This is the first time the large-scale biennial event is to be held in the Northeast Asian region since it was established back in 1985.
