N. Korea Test Fires Short-Range Missiles for 2nd Day

North Korea test fired four short-range missiles toward the Yellow Sea on Friday afternoon.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff said that the North fired a total of four short-range projectiles between 4:15 p.m. and 5 p.m., estimating that the range of the missile tests were about 140 kilometers.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff also said North Korea fired one short-range missile around 10:30 AM on Thursday, adding that it was the same missile as those fired on Friday.

The JCS said they believe that the tested missiles were KN-02 types, which can be fired from mobile missile launchers.

A military official said the tests were a show of force in response to the joint Foal Eagle exercises between U.S. and South Korean forces, seeking to put pressure on South Korea.
