S. Korea to Propose Talks to Resolve Wage Hike at Gaeseong

South Korea is seeking to hold formal talks with North Korea to resolve a dispute over the Pyongyang’s unilateral decision to raise wages for its workers at the Gaeseong Industrial Complex.

A government source in Seoul said on Sunday that South Korea's Gaeseong Industrial District Management Committee will propose talks early this week to North Korea's Central Special Zone Development Guidance General Bureau.

The committee’s office and the bureau are located in the same building within the industrial complex.

Attention is being drawn on whether the two sides will sit down for talks to discuss the wage issue.

South Korean firms operating in the complex will begin to pay the wages earned during the month of March between April 10 and 20.
