Churches around the nation have held services to celebrate Easter.
Catholic churches, which held Easter vigil services on Saturday on the eve of Easter, will hold Mass celebrating the Resurrection of Jesus on Sunday.
Cardinal Andrew Yeom Soo-jung, head of the Seoul Archdiocese of the Roman Catholic Church in Korea, presided over Mass services at Myongdong Cathedral at noon on Sunday.
In his Easter message, the cardinal said that the world needs God’s blessings more than ever and the people should be ready to make sacrifices for peace.
The National Council of Churches in Korea (NCCK) and the Christian Council of Korea (CCK) also held services on Sunday to celebrate Easter.
The CCK will hold an Easter mass at 5 p.m. Sunday at the Full Gospel Church in Yeouido, Seoul.
Easter, which celebrates Jesus Christ’s resurrection from the dead, is an important holiday for followers of all Catholic and Christian denominations.
