Biographical Dictionary of Independence Activists to be Published

A state-run institute plans to publish a biographical dictionary of some 16-thousand Korean independence fighters.

The Institute of Korean Independence Movement Studies announced that the biographical dictionary will detail the personal histories and ideologies of about 16-thousand people who fought for Korea’s liberation from Japanese colonial rule.

The institute, which operates under the Independence Hall of Korea, will hold a ceremony to launch a compilation committee at the Press Center in Seoul on Wednesday.

The dictionary will be published in 2019, which marks the 100th anniversary of the 1919 March First Independence Movement and the establishment of the Korean government in exile in Shanghai, China.
