Korean Embassy in Iraq Looted

Written: 2003-04-14 00:00:00Updated: 0000-00-00 00:00:00

The South Korean Embassy in Baghdad has been bombed by U.S. warplanes and looted by Iraqis. The three-story building alongside the Tigris River had signs of being hit by three bombs. Some broken furniture and other office equipment are the only things that remain in the embassy, most of the things having been apparently stolen by locals. The building had been initially vacated in January 1990, when the first Persian Gulf War broke out. However, from 1999, it served as the office of the Baghdad representative of the Korea Trade Investment Promotion Agency.
