RFA: N. Korean TV Available in US

Radio Free Asia (RFA) reported Wednesday that North Korean TV broadcasts can now be watched in the United States, Latin America and Eastern Europe.

RFA said the North’s official Korean Central Television expanded its reach to the regions in early April using the U.S. satellite services provider Intelsat.

It is the first time the viewing area of North Korean TV programs has been expanded to the United States. Until recently, the North had sent its TV signals overseas via Thaicom 5, a Thai satellite, but only to Asia and Western Europe.

Experts say, however, that it will be difficult for the general public in the United States to watch North Korean TV programs using conventional TV antennas.
