South Korea’s first monorail transit service opened on Thursday in the southeastern city of Daegu.

The Daegu Metro Line 3 spans 23-point-nine kilometers connecting Dongho-dong and Beommul-dong.

The travel time will be reduced from an hour by bus to 40 minutes on the new line. The new line will enable passengers to access every part of the city within an hour's time by transferring to Metro Lines 1 or 2.

The unmanned monorail Metro Line 3 can accommodate up to 160-thousand passengers a day.
