The U.S. State Department said that it is a violation of United Nations Security Council resolutions for North Korea to launch ballistic missiles after the North claimed it successfully test-fired one from a submarine.
 
A State Department spokesperson said Saturday that the United States is closely monitoring North Korean military activities and the situation on the Korean Peninsula, urging the North to refrain from actions that raise tensions in the region.
