Events to Celebrate 1,000 Days to 2018 Winter Olympics

Various events will be held on Saturday in Seoul and Gangwon Province to celebrate the one-thousand-day countdown to the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.

The organizing committee for the Olympics announced Monday that the "Happy Pyeongchang, Promise for 1,000 Days" event will be held at Seoul Olympic Park starting at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

President of the organizing committee Cho Yang-ho and honorary ambassadors for PyeongChang, including former Olympic figure skating champion Kim Yu-na and Olympic speed skater Lee Kyou-hyuk, are expected to attend.

The committee is also preparing diverse programs in Gangwon Province, one of which is a special train bound for Chuncheon, carrying citizens, stars and rising stars of winter sports.

It will also stage an event featuring one thousand pigeons to wish for the success of the Olympics.
