Character-Building Courses Required for Future Teachers

College students hoping to become teachers will be required to take character-building classes beginning in 2017.

The Ministry of Education said Friday it will enact the enforcement ordinance of the character-building education promotion act.

The new law will make it compulsory for students at colleges and universities of education that train future elementary, middle and high school teachers to take at least one character-building class before graduation.

The requirement will begin to be applied to the students enrolling at education schools in the academic year of 2017.
