UFC to Make S. Korea Debut on Nov. 28

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), a promotion company for mixed martial arts events, has announced that it will hold its South Korean debut in November.

The UFC said on Sunday that the event, UFC Fight Night 83, will be held at the Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Seoul on November 28.

UFC Asia Executive Vice President and General Manager Ken Berger said that South Korea has some of Asia’s best mixed martial arts athletes and the planned event will show how powerful and technical these fighters have become.

Launched in the United States in 1993, UFC has bought and absorbed many rival promotions including Pride of Japan in the 2000s.

The popular mixed martial arts company is actively seeking to expand its presence in Asia, setting up UFC Asia in August 2010 and producing events in Tokyo, Manila, Macau and Singapore.
