A former low-ranking official of North Korea’s Workers’ Party says that he defected from the North out of fear of Kim Jong-un’s reign of terror.
     
A government source said the official escaped from the North and arrived in South Korea in the second half of last year. The defector made a statement that he decided to leave North Korea out of fear of the North Korean leader’s ruling style. The former official is said to have mentioned many party officials are afraid.
    
The source added that many North Korean defectors have said they decided to escape out of fear of Kim.
