N. Korea Again Rejects Gaeseong Meeting

North Korea has again rejected South Korea’s proposal to hold a meeting of the Gaeseong Industrial Complex Joint Management Committee to discuss wage hikes for North Korean workers.

Unification Ministry spokesman Lim Byung-cheol said in a regular news briefing Monday that the South sent a written proposal to the North on Friday through the secretariat of the joint management committee, but North Korea refused to receive it.

In the latest proposal, Seoul had requested to hold the joint committee meeting on May 20.

Since December last year, South Korea has proposed inter-Korean meetings four times to discuss wage hikes for North Korean workers. The North, however, has rejected them all.
