North Korea has praised itself for what it called a “successful” test-firing of a submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM), claiming the launch signified the defeat of the U.S.
The Rodong Sinmun, the newspaper of the North's ruling Workers' Party, said on Monday that once SLBMs are produced and deployed in the near future, enemy forces will have time bombs on their backs.
The daily claimed that because the North can now carry out underwater operations as it pleases, the U.S. will no longer be able to provoke the North as it would not be able to know when and where ballistic missiles could be fired.
The paper also claimed that the North’s successful test-firing proves that U.S. President Barack Obama’s policy of "strategic patience” has completely failed.
