N. Korea Building More Statues of Kim Il-sung & Kim Jong-il

Radio Free Asia (RFA) said Tuesday that North Korea is building additional statues of its founder Kim Il-sung and his son, Kim Jong-il, in four areas, including Pyongyang.

Curtis Melvin, a researcher at the U.S.-Korea Institute at John Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies, told RFA that he analyzed Google satellite photos taken between last September and March of this year, detecting signs of the statues in the cities of Pyongyang, Nampo, Sariwon and Haeju.

Melvin added that satellite photos also showed an object presumed to be an altar at a square plot of land in the Second Academy of Natural Sciences in Pyongyang.
