South Korean pitcher Ryu Hyun-jin of the Los Angeles (LA) Dodgers will undergo shoulder surgery, likely putting him out for the rest of the season.  
 
The LA Dodgers announced that the southpaw will undergo arthroscopic surgery in Los Angeles on Thursday for an injury to his throwing shoulder. 
 
Neal ElAttrache, the LA Dodgers’ team physician, who has been monitoring Ryu’s shoulder, will be in charge of the surgery.
 
ElAttrache will inject a small tube into the shoulder to observe the injury and determine what exactly is causing pain.
 
A follow-up schedule will be devised, including rehab and a possible return to the mound, after assessing the results of the surgery.
