1,600 Pandas to Appear in Southern Seoul

Sixteen-hundred paper mache pandas will appear in southern Seoul on Monday to raise public awareness for the endangered species.

Gangnam District Office and Innocean Worldwide, a global marketing and communications company, said Sunday that 16-hundred paper mache pandas will be displayed on the M Stage at Gangnam Station from noon to 5 p.m. Monday.

The 16-hundred pandas exhibition, crafted by French artist Paulo Grangeon in various sizes, is not only the amount of pandas remaining in the world, but is displayed in order to raise awareness of both the success and the challenges faced by the wild giant panda, while emphasizing the importance of creating a world where humans live in harmony with nature.

The pandas were displayed in eight countries including the Netherlands, Italy and Switzerland. The world tour was launched in Paris in August 2008.
