A think tank has found that the average Seoul citizen visits movie theaters six times a year.

The Seoul Institute on Tuesday released an infographic after analyzing  the World Cities Culture Report 2014 issued by the city of London.

According to the Seoul Metropolitan Government's research agency, the average Seoul citizen visited a movie theater five-point-nine times last year, the highest among key cities around the world.

London ranked second (5.3) followed by Paris (4.9), Toronto (4.8) and Sydney (4.8).

The institute said taking in a movie was a popular way to spend free time for Seoul citizens, noting that the number of theaters stood at mere 91 and the number of screens came to just over 500 in the South Korean capital.

The city that saw the least visits to movie theaters was Istanbul. Other cities that ranked low on the list were Mumbai, Moscow and Shanghai.

Meanwhile, the institute estimated that more than eleven-hundred foreign movies and over 400 South Korean films were screened in Seoul last year.
