Swimmer Park Stripped of Incheon Asian Games Medals

South Korean swimmer Park Tae-hwan has officially been stripped of the medals he won at last year’s Incheon Asian Games.

The Olympic Council of Asia announced on Thursday that it had stripped Park of the one silver and five bronze medals. Swimmers who won medals in team events with Park also saw their medals invalidated.

As a result, the total number of medals that South Korea seized in the Incheon Asian Games declined. However, South Korea’s ranking as number two in overall medal tally has remained unchanged.

Earlier in March, the international swimming federation, FINA, suspended Park for 18 months for an anti-doping violation.
