Seoul Denounces Pyongyang's Slander of Pres. Park

The government has denounced North Korea for its verbal attacks on the South Korean president.

An official of Seoul's Unification Ministry on Thursday expressed deep regret over the North's slanderous remarks against a head of state.

The official called on Pyongyang to immediately put a cease to the slander that is not conducive to inter-Korean dialogue. The official urged that the North respond to Seoul's proposed talks and come out onto the path toward unification and advancing cross-border relations.

Seoul also called North Korea's claims regarding President Park Geun-hye's planned visit to the U.S. next month as unreasonable and unacceptable.

Earlier, the North's propaganda Web site Uriminzokkiri blasted Park, saying her visit to the United States next month is to derail the June 15 inter-Korean summit celebration.
