N. Korea Reveals First Video of SLBM Test

North Korea has revealed a four-minute video of its test-fire of a submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM).

Korean Central Television disclosed the video on Thursday as part of a new documentary showing North Korean leader Kim Jong-un making on-site inspections.

The North released the video for the first time since announcing that it had successfully carried out an SLBM test last month.

The video shows a submarine navigating above the surface followed by a missile being fired underwater, rising out of the sea and spewing fire.

Experts said the clip proves the North has the ability to launch ballistic missiles underwater as initially analyzed by the South Korean military, adding that the video does not appear to be fabricated.

An official of the South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff also said the military and government believe the North has indeed succeeded in test-firing an SLBM based on intelligence.
