Gov't to Have Gaeseong Firms Provide Masks to Workers

The government is said to have decided for South Korean companies operating in the Gaeseong Industrial Complex to voluntarily provide masks to workers at the complex as requested by Pyongyang.

A Unification Ministry official said Friday that the government will provide three heat detectors to the North next Monday.

Earlier on Tuesday, the North’s Central Guidance Bureau for Special Zone Development had requested that South Korea send quarantine equipment and protective masks for South Korean workers traveling to the inter-Korean joint venture.

The heads of South Korean companies in the industrial park are set to hold a meeting on the matter next Tuesday. The firms are likely to provide the masks for the safety of their workers in the complex.
