Leading public broadcasters of South Korea and Japan will co-produce a radio program to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations.
KBS announced Wednesday that in conjunction with NHK it will produce a radio program dubbed “Beautiful Companions Korea &Japan – Moving Beyond Difference.”
The special talk show will feature a panel of married couples from the two countries discussing the merits and difficulties of matrimony between Koreans and Japanese.
They will discuss cultural differences, the education of their children as well as how the current political and historical conflicts between the two countries affect their lives.
In addition to the three Korean-Japanese couples, the program will also include experts on Korean and Japanese culture and students at Seoul National University who major in Japanese studies.
Japanese listeners of NHK’s Korean service will make up the in-studio audience.
The special program will be recorded at the headquarters of KBS in Yeouido, Seoul at 1:30 Saturday afternoon, with broadcast in South Korea scheduled on June 19 beginning at 10:10 p.m.
In Japan, the one-hour program will be divided into three segments, with segments to be aired on June 21, June 28 and July 5.
It will be the first time the public broadcasters of the neighboring countries have worked together to produce a radio program.
