N. America Also Sees Increase of SARS Cases

The deadly epidemic SARS is spreading quickly throughout the North American region. Canadian health authorities said as of Saturday, fourteen people had died from the deadly respiratory illness. Among non-Asian countries, Canada has been hit the hardest from SARS, with more than 304 infections reported. In the United States, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced that it included 208 suspect patients in its list. Most of these patients are still under active investigation. Meanwhile, in Hong Kong, twelve additional people died, raising the SARS death toll in the country to 81. As of Wednesday, the World Health Organization has announced more than 3-thousand-200 cases of SARS and 159 deaths globally in 22 countries.
