S. Korean Film Wins Documentary Award at LA Film Festival

A South Korean documentary film has won top honors at the Los Angeles Film Festival's competition section for documentary films.

Daemyung Culture Factory, the distributor of the film "My Love, Don't Cross That River", said Friday that the movie won the Documentary Award at the 21st Los Angeles Film Festival on Thursday.

Directed by Jin Mo-young, the film depicts an elderly couple who lived 76 years together. It drew more than four-point-eight million viewers in South Korea since hitting theaters last November.

Tickets sold out for the film's very first screening at the LA Film Festival last Saturday.

Director Jin said that few people took notice when he first decided to make a film about an elderly couple's love. But he said he now feels as if he achieved a great goal as the film has reached small and big screens, at home and abroad.

"My Love, Don't Cross That River" will also be showcased at the New York Asian Film Festival and the Melbourne and Moscow International Film Festivals.
