Movie '48M' on N. Korean Escapees Screened in Brussels

A South Korean movie based on the life-or-death defection of North Koreans to China was shown on Friday in Brussels, Belgium.

The film “48M” premiered in the United States Congress in 2012, and was shown at the United Nations Commission on Human Rights in General, Switzerland, but was released in South Korea in 2013.

The movie provides a vivid account of North Koreans fleeing their country. The title refers to a 48-meter-wide stretch of the Yalu River, the shortest route between North Korea and China.

The association of North Korean refugees in Europe held a forum in Brussels on human rights in North Korea after screening the movie.
