The organizing committee for the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics has selected renowned actor and producer Song Seung-hwan as the executive creative director of the event's opening and closing ceremonies.
 
The committee announced its pick on Thursday, saying the decision reflected an advisory committee's view that the job requires outstanding direction skills, understandings of broadcasting and audiences’ tastes and the ability to manage projects.
 
As the CEO and executive artistic director of Seoul-based PMC Production, Song produced the mega-hit, non-verbal performance show “Nanta,” which has attracted ten million viewers over 18 years.
