KBS, Foreign Ministry Jointly Host Arabic Banquet

Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) has hosted an "Iftar" banquet jointly with the Foreign Ministry to mark the 40th anniversary of its Arabic language broadcasting.

Some 100 figures related to Islam and Middle Eastern affairs attended the event held at a Seoul hotel Friday evening including KBS President Cho Dae-hyun, Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se and Moroccan Ambassador to Seoul Mohammed Chraibi.

The Foreign Ministry hoped that the Iftar banquet event can serve to boost understanding on Islamic culture as well as respect and acceptance of other religions and cultures.

Iftar which means to "break a fast" in Arabic is the first evening meal Muslims have after ending their daily Ramadan fast at sunset.
