The magnitude of the SARS outbreak in China and Hong Kong is continuously escalating. In China, nine more people have died from the deadly virus, bringing the total death toll to 106. In addition, more than 140 new cases of infection have been reported raising the number of SARS patients in the country to more than 2300. Meanwhile, Hong Kong health authorities said six more people died of the atypical disease, raising the death toll to 105 and that more than 1400 people were infected.
