A photo exhibition on Korean history and culture will be held at the National Museum of Serbia.

The Korea Foundation said Friday that the exhibit will open Monday to continue through October 2 at the museum in Kruševac, a city in central Serbia.

The foundation noted that the upcoming event would be the first Korea-related display at the National Museum of Serbia since it was founded in 1951.

Photos of Korea's leading national treasures will be displayed, including a gilt-bronze statue of Maitreya Bodhisattva in semi-sitting contemplation and a Baekje era gilt-bronze incense burner.

Photos of royal palaces in Seoul such as Gyeongbok and Changgyeong will also greet Serbian residents.

A Korea Foundation official emphasized the diplomatic and cultural significance of the first exhibition on Korean history and culture held in the European nation.
