Nat'l Hangeul Museum to Organize Cultural Events for Independence Day

The National Hangeul Museum will organize a variety of cultural events between next Tuesday and Sunday to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the nation’s liberation from Japanese colonial rule.
 
Visitors will be provided with explanation from experts on the Dongnip Sinmun, a paper that was published solely in Korean between 1896 and 1899, and on the nation’s first Hangeul dictionary, among other relics related to the Korean language twice daily at eleven a.m. and four p.m.
 
Beginning at four p.m. on Wednesday of next week, the Sookmyung Gayagum Orchestra will perform traditional Korean folk songs, including Arirang, as well as a modern interpretations of popular folk songs of other countries.
 
On Independence Day which falls on Saturday of next week, Korea University Professor Park Yong-gyu will give a special lecture from two p.m.
