Various Events in Seoul to Mark 70 Years of Independence

To commemorate Korea's 70th anniversary of independence from Japanese colonial rule, an array of events will take place around Seoul.

Seoul City will team up with the Samsung Thunders basketball team as well as citizens to work on wall paintings.

The paintings will depict letters from 15 independence fighters who were imprisoned. Once the paintings are complete they will be hung in the history hall of Seodaemun Prison.

Yeongdeungpo district will decorate its streets with 200 national flags, known as Taegeukgi, while both Gangbuk and Dongdaemun district offices will hold a Taegeukgi photo exhibition to showcase the evolution of the flag.
