The Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival kicked off its three-day run on Friday amid the continuing heat wave topping 35 degrees Celsius.

At the tenth Pentaport festival at the Moonlight Festival Park in the Songdo International Business District, renowned bands from abroad will perform including famous names such as Scorpions, The Prodigy and Steelheart.

Korean musicians including Seo Tai-ji Band, the Kim Chang-wan Band, Yoon Do-hyun Band, Jambinai, Crash and Asian Chairshot are also listed on the lineup.

A stage to pay tribute to rocker Shin Hae-chul who passed away last October is also expected. 

Pentaport is the very first domestic rock festival that sprang up in Korea. It ranked eighth among the world's top 50 music festivals chosen by British magazine Timeout.
