S. Korea Wins Men's East Asian Cup

South Korea’s men’s national football team has won the East Asian Cup for the first time in seven years.

The team, led by head coach Uli Stielike, had a scoreless draw with North Korea at Wuhan Sports Center Stadium on Sunday, finishing the three-game competition with five points.

Later in the day, China entered its final match of the cup on three points, but only managed to add a point with a 1-1 draw against Japan.

North Korea equaled China on points, but finished third on goal difference. Japan failed to win once at the 2015 event and finished last with two points.

It is the third time South Korea’s men’s team hoisted the winning trophy since it won the inaugural title in Japan in 2003. The team also won the 2008 event in China.
