Exhibition of Princess Deokhye’s Belongings Opens in Seoul

A special exhibition of personal belongings left by the Joseon Dynasty’s last princess will run from Tuesday through September 6 at the National Palace Museum in Seoul.

Exhibits include traditional Korean royal outfits made for Princess Deokhye, a daughter of King Gojong, which will offer glimpses into the life of the Joseon royal family as well as dressmaking techniques and fashion trends of the time.

In 1955 following their divorce, Deokhye’s Japanese husband Takeyuki So returned the artifacts to the princess' elder brother Prince Youngchin. The belongings had been kept at the Bunka Gakuen Costume Museum in Japan and were returned to Korea in June of this year.
