An international sports event for military service members will open next month in South Korea’s Mungyeong City in North Gyeongsang Province.

The organizing committee said on Wednesday that the opening and closing ceremonies of the Military World Games Korea will he held under the theme of world peace.

The committee said that the ceremonies will be directed by Son Jin-chek who directed the opening ceremony of the 2002 South Korea-Japan World Cup. 

About 400 people including a military honor guard and special forces will hold a group performance.

The opening ceremony will be held at 5:30 p.m. on October 2 and the closing ceremony is set for 6 p.m. on October 11 at the main stadium of the Korea Armed Forces Athletic Corps in Mungyeong.
